We're writing because we don't fully believe it either, and we were the ones who made the ring.

A school doesn't do what you did in 2026. Programs spend a decade trying to be good at one of these sports. You went through a season of football without losing a game, and then you went through a season of basketball without losing a game, in the same academic year, in a town of seventy thousand people where one stadium sits on the north side of campus and the other sits across the street from where the football team eats. Historians of the sport will spend years arguing whether it can happen twice in a lifetime. You did it between September and April.

So this is a ring about two seasons, and we built it that way.

The face carries both. The football mark and the basketball mark are set on opposite sides of the top, sculpted in relief rather than printed, with the year set between them like a hinge. Turn it in the light and the two emblems alternate catching it. The band is hand-finished along every edge, which is slower than machine work and is the reason no two of these leave the workshop identical. It has the weight of a ring that knows what it's for.

Your part of the year goes in the metal. You can have your name and your number engraved — a name and number you choose, cut into the surface rather than laid across it, deep enough that the letters keep their edges after years of pockets and door frames. Some of you will put your own name, because you were at both stadiums and your voice knows it. Some of you will put a player's, or a jersey number that only means something in your family. The engraving is permanent on purpose, so choose the way you'd choose a tattoo: slowly, and for keeps.
